Kem Coba
Undoubtedly, the most well-known ice cream shop in Montreal. Many people (Montrealais of course) say it’s the best ice cream in North America. -
Ca Lem
Though this ice cream shop is far from downtown, it’s definitely worth taking a 30 min drive to buy.
-
Ripples
Just right across the famous smoked meat sandwich place. A great dessert after meal non? -
Le Bilboquet Montréal
Their maple syrup flavor is a must try and the best in Montreal. And if you like tropical fruits, don’t miss their mango flavor. -
Chocobel
It’s actually a chocolate shop, but their soft serve is just as fantastique as their chocolate.
Hope you like it, and bon appetit!
Hi @ChanneLing ,
All of these places look really cool and now I’m craving for an ice cream myself! Which place is your favorite? I’ve never had a maple syrup ice cream I wonder how that tastes like? Is it extremely sweet?
Now I’m dying to go to Montreal! Is Kem Coba a chain by any chance? Or is there just one shop?
It’s hard to choose a favorite but if I have to, I’d choose the one with maple syrup ice cream haha, not mentioned that the maple syrup made in Canada is the best! You must try it when you come visit!
The maple syrup flavor is sweet but not cloying. When I go to the ice cream place, I always buy two or three scoops. One scoop of maple syrup (a must!) with vanilla or chocolate, and sometime one more scoop of fruit sorbet.
I wish they have chains, but no they only have one shop.
By the way, they’re closed in winter, so no ice cream from December to late April
(Most handmade/independent ice cream shops in Montreal are closed in Winter.)
@ChanneLing That makes sense I guess…but I’m definitely the kind of person to eat ice cream in the winter
@Casira Ahahaha me too! So in winter, I always go to La Diperie or Chocolats Favoris. These two shops sell dipped soft serve and are both Quebec founded chains.
