The Delicious Peshawari Chapli Kebab

Peshawari Chapli kebab is very popular food dish in my local community (Alkhobar) and are usually served in Pakistani restaurants. This delicious kebabs are made of Ground beef with different secret spices added to enhance its taste further. The shape of the Chapli kebab resembles a patty. The dish has its roots associated with the Peshawar city. It is quite a common site to see the Desi community (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh) flocking to these restaurants, especially during the dinner time.

Chapli is a pashto word whose literal meaning is “Flat”. In most of restaurants located in my local community, the cooking of chapli kebabs will be done on-site once the order is placed by the customer. The beef will be chopped and grind in a mincing machine and the chef will apply the secret spices to the flat patty along with the wheat flour. Chopped tomatoes, chilies and onions will be added to the kebab and it will be shallow fried in the cooking oil.

The kebab is served with flat tandoori bread and Raita (Plain Yogurt). The average cost of one Chapli Kebab in the local restaurants here is 10 SAR (2.5 US$) and will be sufficient for an average serving size.

P.S: @KashifMisidia Bhai, Have your tried the Chapli kebabs in Karachi, What is your opinion on its taste?

Hello @fasi6083 ,

Thank you for sharing these photos with us, the kebab looks very delicious! Where did you have it?

Have you ever tried the Turkish Adana kebab or the Moroccan kefta?

As a person who grew up in Morocco, I am used to the kefta which is basically ground meat with spices. They usually put cumin and a mix of a special spices.

@BorrisS Thanks for the reply, I had tasted the Turkish Adana Kebab during my stay in Silbersteinstraße in Berlin, the kebabs were tender and juicy. I haven’t tried the Moroccan kefta, I would love to taste them someday.
