Well, when I look at them again and again, it is two different species. The one I show is not the most expensive in the world but from Cambodia, costs around 15-30$/kilo when sold in the market. It is just very similar! The most expensive from Cambodia known to locals is Keo Chen which is 1kg = 6$ (2-3 fruits/kilo). The price of this purple one I don’t know since it is rare and I just know that it is exported mango!

You are right, I have never had it before too @Gurukrishnapriya The red mango is rare and this is the first time I saw it.

Hahah, I haven’t had it too @AdamGT @Austinelewex the inside of the mango is usually yellow, milky yellow :slightly_smiling_face: except Keo Ktis which is always green!

This one is no exception but I haven’t came across it before so cannot really tell about the taste.

I had a photo of the one I held the fruit but I held the smaller one.

Actually I just saw the red one the first time but this one is not the most expensive one when I compared and studied it. The one from Japan is rosy red and this one become purple when it is ripe @SalmaanN

Though I am not an expert in Mangoes, I feel that I have seen these varieties.

Unfortunately, the Mango season in India will be shattered due to Covid; I heard that heaps of mangoes are getting spoiled as buyers cannot reach the market (Karnataka, where I am presently is under full lockdown).

Still, if I get some, I shall add here soon, dear @Sophia_Cambodia

It has the same problem here @TravellerG many farmers have problems with the products with no buyers.

I wish you all the best!

Hi,

I really love to have this juicy and informative post, I understand some are rare species and they need lot of attention and special care so costly, but taste as you describe.

Like in India I really love to have Alphanso or Hapus from Konkan, and specie from Malihabadi Dasheri, Kesar from Gujrat are my favorite and affordable.

We are in the mango season too dear @rizbab28 I have a lot at home as my parents sent them from a farm to us.

It is only that we cannot go out and explore what we want to do and eat at this meantime.

Price of Egg of The Sun is much higher (I have known from your post). I have tasted various types of mango but never tasted Egg of The Sun.

The pictures of mangoes are looking so nice. Though, this is a short written post but much taste post.

Thank you @Sophia_Cambodia for posting about mango.
