The Seblak ( have you tried seblak? )

if you go to Indonesia and you visit the area around West Java. You will find many stalls (warung) or restaurants that sell food called “seblak”.

what is it like?

seblak is newcomers of culinary food who are becoming a trend in the region.

the origins term of seblak refer to hot and spicy spice mixture made from Kencur kaempferia galanga and some chilli peppers. And should a thick and chewy texture

this food has a very savory taste. usually this food contains various types of crackers and noodles (or anything made by flour) but in some professional restaurants, this menu is served with chicken bones, vegetables, claws, shrimps and many more depending on the chef creations.

in several regions such as Jakarta, Tangerang, Bekasi and Bogor. The Seblak served with gravy, but in other parts of West Java, such as Bandung, Tasikmalaya, Cirebon, Majalaya Subang etc. The Seblak served without gravy.

the history of seblak is also various versions

starting from the habit of the cianjur people who during the colonial occupation ate kencur processed boiled with crackers, because it was expensive to buy cooking oil.

there is also from Central Java which according to this version seblak is an adaptation of KrupukGodog from sumpiuh-banyumas
which developed into a contemporary version at this time.

Thank you for sharing, I’ve only heard about this dish but haven’t got the chance to taste it yet. Maybe you can share some other pictures showing how the seblak looks like.

From what I know some places offer varieties of toppings and level of spiciness.

You can try to make this dish in your kitchen, the point of this food is tone of kencur.

And you right about in some places offer varieties of toppings and level of spiciness, i sell seblak dishes, And i use many toppings and level of spiciness reached level 5 ( i call it "hampura puedess… " in sundanese )
