Tokyo Camii Mosque , Tōkyō-jāmii (東京ジャーミイ) place of prayer is a sacred, spiritual place where religious thoughts, learning, guidance are preached, various religious devotions and rituals are held. A place of worship has played an essential role in helping people nurture good relationships with each other and To satisfy oneself, to purify oneself. The Tokyo Camii and Diyanet turkish culture centre is located at oyama-cho, shibuya, Tokyo, is the largest mosque in Japan.
History
The story of Tokyo Cami dates back to the pre-war period. In 1938, the Tokyo Islamic School was established with the support of the Japanese government. It was the result of a call for Kazan Turks who had fled the Russian Revolution to Japan to find a place of worship. This mosque was a cornerstone for all Muslims in Japan for more than half a century, but due to the building’s deterioration, it was demolished in 1986. It was then rebuilt in 2000 as the Tokyo Camii and Diyanet Turkish Culture Centre.
In 1997, the “Tokyo Camii Foundation” was established under the Presidency of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Turkey and contributions were accepted from all over Turkey. The design of the new Mosque was by architect Muharrem Hilmi Şenalpe, a representative of modern Turkish religious architecture. Approximately 100 engineers and craftsmen came to Japan from Turkey for the construction and were engaged in the structural and interior construction of the building.
The construction of Tokyo Camii, which started on June 30, 1998, was completed in about two years, hats off to the efforts of relevant people from both Japan and Turkey. The opening ceremony was held with great pomp on June 30, 2000, and Tokyo Camii opened a new page in history of modem civilization as a place of prayer and culture.
Architecture and features
It was built in the classical Ottoman-Turkish architectural style, which is the pinnacle of religious architecture, Turkish-Islmic independent artwork, in Islamic civilization, with this central plan structure with six semi-domes in architecture, it has a feature that extends from the past to the future through the integration of tradition and technology. It also has steel-reinforced concrete system on an earthquake-resistant pile foundation. A giant turkish artistic chandelier hang from the ceiling in the prayer room.

KÜNDEKARİ is the ancient art of creating a pattern by interlocking and connecting small wooden pieces cut in geometric shapes. Screw and gum are no needed for attaching the parts. Mother of pearl organic stone could be found from seashell, oysters, mussels and snails. REVZEN is a Unique artwork of creating a pattern by placing colored pieces of glasses between plasters and mosque Windows.
STONE AND MARBLE CRAFTMANSHIP is a elegant details of turkush floor design patterning. EBRU (TURKISH ART OF MARBLING) is geometric pattern work mcstly placed in paintings. TEZHİP (THE ART OF ILLUMINATION) is decoraing important text calligraphy using gold. The holy Qur’an, s first pages containing Surah al-Fatiha and the first five verses of Surah al-Baqarah designed by tezhip.
The ground entrance is for turkish islamic handicraft exhibition. The multipurpose prayer room is capable about 650 people can prayer together. If basement segment will open 2000 people can pray together.
There arw bookstore and library section where we can read buy books samulteneously on various languages. A Qur’an is gifted by Turkish president to Camii mosque as displayed on the 1st floor hall. A halal market, cafeteria, gift corner, donation campaign, waiting room are all in this cultural centre. In a meeting and seminar rooms are in big use of workshop, seminar, Friday khutbah, conference, events and so on. The 24/7 prayer time updated before (wakt) the prayer time. The 1st floor is used as a dining hall for meal service for lunch and dinner.
The Camii mosque Foundation served whole ramadan days of Iftar to all Muslim or non muslim people. Approximately they Served 500 people daily. Also theh serverd suhoor on ocassion of Shab-e-Qadr (may be 27 ramjan) This is such a humanitarian work also sponsor are willingly to work with camii Foundation. I did salat (prayer) and iftar twice here. Everyone on queue and waited for iftar. And iftar was so delicate and it was Turkish delicacy life burglar pilaf, rice pilaf, sauteed chicken, macaroni, pulse soup, pudding and so on. We did iftar on the 1st floor hall.
