The Points, Photo Views and Video Views leaderboards regularly posted on Connect, each look at specific but different media aspects of our Maps contributions. Based on various metrics, including the number of points and the number of views, the participants on these leaderboards are listed without giving any consideration to their respective country location.
However, it goes without saying that Local Guides in smaller countries or ones where there are significantly less guiding opportunities, such as Barbados, Cameroon and Rwanda, would have less chance of gaining enough points or photo views than those in larger countries such as the United States, Canada or UK and therefore, these Local Guides have less chance of getting onto leaderboards based strictly on points or photo views!
Local Heroes > Local Stories
The leaderboards in this post, are different because they specifically take into account the country location of the participating Local Guides and in this way, they give Local Guides from even the smallest countries recognition and an opportunity to be featured as local heroes in their country, and you will see many are.
There are many great local stories on the Country leaderboards and so if you’re a local hero and you’re not listed on the leaderboards or your country isn’t listed, then you and your country should be and you can make this happen. Readme - How to Read the Country based leaderboards (November , 2024)
Briefly, this is what you need to know about the leaderboards in this post. For more details see the leaderboard documentation and the Leaderboard System’s online context-sensitive help information.
The leaderboards in this post showcase the participating Local Guide leaders in each country for a wide range of different contribution metrics, including points and photo views. So while you may have made sizeable contributions and achieved very impressive results for a given metric, unless you are the highest achiever in your country for that metric you will not be listed in the respective leader board showcasing that metric.
For each metric, the Global Points, Views & Contributions leaderboard lists the outright top contributor/achiever in that metric. Selecting a flag will take you to the Maps profile of the respective Local Guide. The leaderboards that follow this leaderboard drill down into the details of this top-tier leaderboard.
In this way, the Country Points & Views Summary leaderboard, lists for each country, the Local Guides having the highest points and photo views, as well as the highest average views per photo, the highest star views (the highest views for the most viewed photo), and the highest star views per day which can be used as an indication of the quality of the star photo. Because of the size of this leaderboard and the constraints of Connect, this leaderboard is presented in two parts, Part 1 and Part 2.
The Country Contributions Summary leaderboard, lists for each country, the Local Guides that have contributed the most in each of the different contribution areas such as photos, reviews, videos, answers, lists etc. Once again, because of the size of this leaderboard and the constraints of Connect, this leaderboard is presented in four parts.
Next there’s the Points by Country leaderboard which lists in highest point order, the Local Guides having the highest points in each country, This is followed by the Photo Views leaderboard which lists in highest photo views order, the Local Guides having the highest photo views in each country. Similarly, there’s the Average Views/Photo by Country.
The next set of leaderboards cover the star views and star views per day of the leading country star photos, star videos and star 360 spheres. Once again, in each case, these leaderboards only show one Local Guide, the leader in each country. While a Local Guide may be listed in a star views leaderboard, unless that Local Guide updated the star views in the current period (i.e. the period between when the previous and current data was read), that Local Guide will not be listed in the star views/day leaderboard.
Where shown, [ ] around leaderboard sequence numbers indicate that this is the first time that the Local Guide has appeared on the Local Guides leaderboards.
Where shown, ( ) around leaderboard sequence numbers indicate that this Local Guide levelled up/down on this leaderboard.
An asterisk * shown after a Connect Username indicates that that Local Guide is a Connect Moderator.
Double asterisks (**) shown after a Connect Username indicates that that Local Guide is a Googler.
Hovering over a Local Guide’s username will display the integration number that integrates that Local Guide’s details on the Leaderboards System and Connect; the umbilical chord if you will between the two disparate systems.
Selecting a Connect Usernames will take you to that Local Guide’s Connect Profile.
While Local Guides may still be shown as being members of Connect, if they are shown as having been suspended from the Local Guides program, they will not be included on the Leaderboards.
Local Guides suspended or who have left the Local Guides program are excluded from the Leaderboards.
Local Guides that have hidden their profiles will be excluded from some or all of the leaderboards.
A ? or the words “Not set” in a cell indicates that the respective value hasn’t been provided by or cannot be determined for the respective Local Guide.
Hovering over a country flag will display the name of that country.
