Dear TRACians, Roaders and LGC Fellows,
In just a few days, the new TRAC 2025 Campaign will begin! I’m excited to share that, along with @SholaIB, we’ve introduced some great new features for this campaign:
- Teams
- Badges
- and some exciting milestones
TRAC was founded in 2023 by @SholaIB , aka “the Captain”, with a mission: a Campaign to Add Thousands of Roads to Google Maps.
The name TRAC reflects this goal.
While it’s not a competition, we set ambitious targets to reach by the end of each campaign period. Being part of TRAC allows us to share road-editing tips, collaborate, and support each other. We take great pride in our work and are always ready to help.
This year, TRAC 2025 kicks off with a new structure and a fresh outlook.
For TRAC 2025, participants will be divided into three teams:
- Runners – Led by @SholaIB aka “The Captain”
- Seekers – Led by @PrasadVR
- Masters – Led by @MarcoDavoli
Each team will work together to make this year’s campaign a success.
TRAC started in 2023 with a goal of mapping 1,000 new roads—and we did it!
The overwhelming success of TRAC 2024 pushed us to an incredible milestone: 100,000 roads mapped! And once again, we did it.
For TRAC 2025, we’ve decided not to set a specific numerical goal.
Instead, we’re focusing on pushing ourselves further than ever before. That said… let’s be real. We’re aiming to finish among the top three , because while TRAC isn’t a competition, a little friendly rivalry never hurt!
We are bold. We are committed. And we are proud. Speaking of which…
Mapping roads is a strange little hobby, isn’t it? You spend hours alone, staring at a screen, carefully adding or editing roads that most people will never even notice. It’s rewarding, but also… kind of invisible. You put in the work, but who really sees it?
That’s where the team comes in. Being part of TRAC makes the effort worthwhile—we support each other, share tips, and celebrate small victories. But even with that, we thought: shouldn’t there be some form of recognition?
So last year, we introduced the (unofficial) TRAC Badge, a way to say, Hey, we see you !. We appreciate you!.
If you reached a certain level of contributions, you earned the badge. Simple, fun, and a way to make our invisible work a little more visible.
We have six BADGEs in recognition of the hard word into creating new roads; those are: Novice for adding 1000 new roads, Savant = 5000, Virtuoso = 10000, GrandMaster = 30000, Legendary = 50000 and the ultimate: Master Conqueror for more than 100.000 new roads added.
Now, for TRAC 2025, we’re taking it up a notch! We’re introducing the PROUD Badge, another way to recognize the dedication of our new TRAC members.
Because what we do matters. And if we’re going to spend hours perfecting maps, we should at least get a badge (or two) to show for it!
To qualify, all you need to do is add at least 25 new roads starting from March 1st.
Join us, your efforts won’t go unnoticed!
We’ll be thrilled to see your new badge in the LGC signature of your future posts. (here how to ; thanks to @Kumaarsantosh )
Let’s be honest, statistics can be boring. But these?
These are freaking amazing!
Last year, just 36 of us “TRACians” yes, only thirtysix managed to map 427.534 new roads. Out of 10,808 LGCs, a total of 563.400 roads were mapped.
Do the math.
We accounted for over 75% of the total work.
Read that again.
That’s not just impressive, that’s legendary. And guess what? We’re just getting started.
If we’ve already broken records, imagine what we can do if more people join in.
So, if you’re still wondering whether your effort matters, here’s the answer:
Yes. It matters. We are making a difference. And we’re not stopping.
Let’s keep going. Let’s reach the sky.
Are you in?
You can FILL the FORM to join TRAC
Can’t wait to see you in the biggest TRAC Campaign ever.
Take care and enjoy
Marco
