Budget traveling is on top of the mind for most local guides.
A major expense is typically to and from the airport.
Most airports in the US, Japan, and India are connected to the downtown city center by public transport. These can save a lot when used with Google Maps.
If you are traveling to San Diego in the US, exit the baggage pick-up at the airport and head to the information desk.
Ask for bus number 992.
They will point to the exit where this bus stops.
The ticket kiosk is adjacent to the information desk.
It accepts coins, debit and credit cards, and currency notes.
Note: The slot labeled bills means currency notes in the US.
After you step out of the airport, find a board that displays the pickup point for Route 992.
After the bus arrives, walk along with the queue to board the bus.
The bus is wheelchair-friendly and has a retractable ramp.
Also inside the bus are seats assigned for the differently-abled.
Plenty of luggage racks are provided inside the bus.
So no worries at all even when you are carrying more luggage.
Onboard, tell the driver your desired stop.
Check the live path using Google Maps as the bus will try to cover popular neighborhoods and may not necessarily follow the shortest distance.
For only $2, I traveled to the Hostel on the 3rd from the airport
This hostel is also an economical alternative to hotels in San Diego
I stayed there for only USD 28 per night.
The hostel is studded with features that I will cover in another post.
