There are some diving spots in Bali, Indonesia. But, if your purpose is for hunting underwater macro photography, Padang Bai could be the best recommended spot.
I want to say thank you for Pak Widana from Widana Dive Service. He is a good and well-experience diver and photographer. He taught me very well about the basic technique of diving. He also trained me how to capture underwater macro photography. That was amazing diving experience I have ever had.
That looks like an incredible experience! What equipment did you use for underwater experience? I’ve always wanted to try diving, wow! How did you like it and how hard was it to actually photograph?
Would love to get some insights on this type of photography, I think it would be interesting for other too.
Diving is addictive activity. You will be such an entering a new world with silence, only bubble sound that you can hear from your octopus or oxygen tube, you wil see a lot of colorful sea creatures, and it’s really amazing!
If you want to learn underwater photoshoot, you must be experience basic technique of diving. You need to improve you buoyancy (balancing your body in the water). Taking underwater photoshoot is quite hard because the stream makes your body unstable and it will hard to capturing the focus on the object you want to shoot. The body of your camera is also bigger and heavier because of the camera housing and the strobe for lighting. Fyi, I used Canon DSLR camera for these photos.
Even if it is hard. Learning about underwater macro photographys is really interesting and worth to try.
@eviselvia thanks a lot for your tips and information about this. I will definitely try diving when opportunity strikes as for photos of course, along the way. How long have you practiced diving? It’s impressive the quality of the photos you took!

@DanniS Before this, I have learned diving in Wakatobi, Southeast Sulawesi. I had 3 spots of diving. Then after 5 months, I went to Bali, review my basic diving skill, and then take a short course about underwater macro photography for two diving spots.
@eviselvia all the photos r mesmerizing. Creatures underneath the sea r truly beautiful. We shud do our best to protect them. Have been reading that the Corals are dying at an alarmingly fast rate.
We shud do our best to protect all these vulnerable creatures.
