Updating an attraction with no street address, just GPS or Plus code

Unable to find any contacts at Google maps to update a location.

Updating a location seems to require a street number, doesn’t work for our Nature Preserve trailhead.

Hi @pooderbill if you want to add a trailhead to Maps you need to go to your contributions, map edition, add a route, new route, and then you start to trace it on the map, when it’s done, you can add a name and type of route.

I hope it can help you if not you can go to Google Maps Support

Greetings & Welcome to Connect!

Silvy.

There is a pointer to the trailhead but is not accurately mapped. I have the GPS location but trying to edit this location is not possible as the dialog only allows for a street address or intersection. The actual location is a parking area with a short unnamed driveway off the highway. The Google Maps link you provided doesn’t have any links except FAQs. Is there a special contact that can handle location pointers with no street address?

Hi @pooderbill

From what I understand from your conversation with @SilvyC , you are trying to move the PIN of a parking area in the correct position, Am I wrong?

To move the pin of a listing, you need to follow the procedure indicated in Edit business information in Google Maps , as the procedure apply to every listing in Maps, including parking places.

On the Business Listing, clock on “Suggest an edit” then clock on “Change name or other detail

then, click on “Update location on map” and move the pin on the correct position.

When you are on the screen to move the pin, I suggest you to switch to “Satellite View” as it will make easier to find the correct position on the place

Hello @pooderbill ,

Thank you for reaching out!

I am going to move your post to the How-tos section, the place where Local Guides ask questions related to Connect and Google Maps.

Thanks. I had tried to enter a GPS location but nothing worked.
The little map seemed too small to do anything.

I clicked on the map and it increased to a useable size.

I was then able to zoom and adjust the pointer.

A related question:

When will the satellite view of this area be updated?

It is the Pacific coast in northwest Oregon and it has changed a lot in the last five years.

Thanks for the feedback, @pooderbill , yes the map is “zoomable” to make it easier to increase the accuracy of our edits.

In the future please use @ to “tag” the person you are responding to. It will make easier to follow the conversation, and the mentioned person will receive a notification.

Regarding updating the satellite view, we have already several posts about the subject. You can find them by using the search box on the top of the page

@pooderbill

Very good that you succeeded in moving the pin by zooming in. It is best to always zoom in all the way to get the most accurate position.

Regarding your new question, it would be better to start a new thread. This will make it easier for other local guides to find and learn.

If you make a search for updated sattelite imagery you will find this has been discussed quite a few time already.

Cheers
