UPLOAD PHOTOS FROM GOOGLE PHOTOS TO MAPS

I was inspired to make this post because of a post I saw on Mortencopenhagen’s page.

The major advantage of backing up your photos to Google Photos

For the other people asking;

Yes, photos can be shared directly from Google Photos apart from the ones I mentioned [here](http://For%20the other people asking; Yes, photos can be shared directly from Google Photos. Here is how to do that; Open Google Photos select photos select share click on Maps If the location is incorrect, click on 'somewhere else’s type post) are;

  • you can access your photos from anywhere as long as you remember your user name and password.
  • Your photos are automatically backed up such that you do not have to ever lose a photo again

HOW TO UPLOAD YOUR PHOTOS FROM GOOGLE PHOTOS TO GOOGLE MAPS

  1. Open (or Launch) the Google Photos App
  2. select photos
  3. select share
  4. click on Maps
  5. If the location is incorrect, click on ‘somewhere else’
  6. type
  7. post

Thank you. :blush:

I am committed to helping you grow just as all ‘these Seniors’ are eager to see me take my place among them.

See you… :handshake:

Thanks for your tips, @Ewaade_3A .

BTW, the example on your post is, even if possible, something not admissible for Google Maps. You indicated Copenhagen as the destination of the photo, but Copenhagen is not a POI.

According to Add, remove, or share photos and videos , where the procedure is very well detailed, you can read: You can add media for points of interest, like businesses or parks. You can’t add media to addresses or coordinates.

Adding photos on places that are not POIs (Points Of Interest), also called Business Listings, through Google Photos is discouraged, as it is a workaround for bypassing the restrictions of Google Maps.

So, why if we search for Copenhagen on Maps, we will see a lot of photos? Because Maps display in there the most recent photos added on the POIs of the area.

In the future please always verify the information on the official documents available on the help page of Google Maps, that is accessible directly from your App

Hello @Ewaade_3A

In my opinion, the ability to post photos through the process explained by you should be used as a last resort for the following reasons.

  1. A user can make an error while selecting a place.

That may include even a forbidden place.

  1. The steps make it possible to post the same photo at multiple POIs, unknowingly.

3 Even a duplication of the photo at the same place can’t be ruled out.

The best way is to select the photos suggested in the app through “Contribute”,–> "

Contribute now" as that prevents this kind of errors. Once selected, the photo vanishes from suggestions and hence no more duplication.

oooh! thanks a lot!

So, not to ‘Share’ but to click on ‘Contribute’?

I see :thinking:

So the Google Photos can actually tell if you have added the Photos to theMaps? :hushed: Wow :clap:t3:

**I will use Google photos more @C_T **

thanks for this tip

Thank you **Ermes.**I am well aware of this rule.

According to the rule, you are not expected to add for example; an address like a Home Address.

POIs include but are not limited to;

  • Schools
  • Parks
  • Resorts
  • Recreational Centres
  • Religious Centres
  • Zoos
  • Spas
  • Boutiques
  • Eateries
  • Restaurant

More like a Public place, am I right?

I think the problem is; “I play too much!”

This Post was lifted from Mortencopenhagen’s Comment section, since I was trying to clarify something to some Local Guides I decided to use his name :grinning: forgetting that Copenhagen was the name of an actual place and that Ermes’ eyes will find me!

I am sorry. I will change the screenshots by morning.

I had to quickly respond because you have told me; “Always, check your mentions!!!” :rofl:

@ErmesT please check his post out, I am sure you will have a better response for him

I will be editing this post in the morning and I will require your help, may I send you a Private message, please? let’s work on this together, okay? Thank you.

@C_T

No, you can continue with your post @Ewaade_3A .

Till date, the method explained by you is legitimate.

Nevertheless, you can always edit your post mentioning the possible risks.

In any case, if someone is using a non-GPS camera, the person has to either add or correct the location in Google photos with the same likelihood of error.

However, there too my experience is, if I capture some photos through my phone in between, the photos app detects the camera location also with certainty.

Hello @ErmesT just need a clarification, though I read the last update of add, remove, and upload photos. Is the last update of uploading Media temporary due to the Covid-19 ? Like ( can’t upload photos to addresses and coordinate )?!

I like sometimes to upload a 360 photo to a city or a village . What about uploading a photo to a circle ? or a district as they shown on the map !? for example. though they are not a POI ! please let me learn more I don’t want to violate when I am L9.

Thanks

@OSAMA_1 , the rule I mentioned on my reply is related to plain photos, and has never been modified in the last year.

The rules do not apply for 360 photos.

369 Photos can be uploaded on every place of the map, but you receive points ONLY if the photos are related, and linked, to a POI

Please read: Publish and connect 360 photos with the Street View app

@ErmesT Thanks for the correct information sir and the modesty to be so polite always :slightly_smiling_face:
