Caption Vijay Stambh Chittorgarh Rajasthan India.
I love to wander all around as I don’t miss any opportunity. I was in Famous Chittorgarh of Rajasthan with my wife. I am always anxious about the rich history and heritage. Chittorgarh is one of the hill fort about which I was curious as being an ancient fort since the Maurya and remain the Headquarters of Mewar. Close to the fort in Nagri ruins of Greece Colony can be witnessed. It has many monuments which are classic historical heritage. Even Meera and Padmini were also residing in this fort. Vijay Stambh is also one of the heritage of its kind.
Vijay Stambh a nine storeyed tower also known as Victory Tower was built by Maharana Kumbha between 1458 and 1468, to commemorate his victory over Sultan Mahmud of Malwa. This tower is built on a 10 feet raised platform and this monument is symbolic of ancient Indian Architectural Style and it is 6 metres wide having 157 steps to the top storey. The view from the top of this extraordinary 36-Metres high sand stone structure, richly carved out side and inside with Pauranic depictions of God and Goddess like Ardh Narishwar, Uma Maheshwar, Laxmi Narayan, Brahma, Savitri, Harihar Pitamah and Vishnu’s various incarnations are engraved and also scenes and person from Ramayna and Mahabharath details are in-scripted. Besides all, Matrika Statue, Seasons, rivers, and life style of the people, as whole variety of sculpture art work is so magnificent that one will remain spellbound.
Young must go through the stare-case to have the magnificent view as it needs energy and revolving steps may be troublesome for those having any knee pain etc. Always have a camera and if possible a binocular to enjoy the complete fort view and city view too. It’s a wonderful site for art and architecture lovers, wanderes, history buffs, photographers, explorers etc.
