In the world, no other place is like Vasa Museum, you can witness one whole intact wooden warship which was built in 17th century, and especially, she was fished out after 333 years lying down in the deep waters. It is the most visited museum in Scandinavia.
I was some kinda browsing the huge ship from 2nd floor to 7th floor inside the museum, but still impressed by her magnificent layers for different functions. She is about 53m in height and 69m in length and with many culture relics in the exhibits showing the Sweden life of the time.
Swedish King, Gustav II Adolf, ordered people to build the Vasa warship but without listening to the designers’ advice, instead insisted on adding more cannons on the ship that caused the imbalance problem and led to her sinking in her maiden voyage after only sailing 1300m from the pier.
There is an audio-video room that will play the documentary film of Vasa Warship every 20 minutes with different language, just like the Discovery movies.
Because Vasa belonged to King’s warship, in front of the ship was sculptured with many beautiful and shinning statues coated with colorful paints. Owing to disappearing of the colors in the surface of the statues, it presents the speculation of the original looks in one wall of the museum.
If you are patient, you can learn a lot of new information and satisfy with your curiosity. If you have limited time in Stockholm, don’t miss this Vasa Museum!
