Voortrekker Monument, South Africa

¡Me caí!

Great post (as usual) @Marichams , and really beautiful photos.

It is a pleasure to read about a country that is not too much highlighted in Connect.

Hi @ErmesT , thanks for that parentheses, it is quite encouraging to know that someone as prolific as you likes the stuff I publish .

Is South Africa not popular here, why so? Curious! There you have thrown me a challenge!

About the jumps, I think I will make a special post about this jumps, since I have a few years making them, and have already done then in a few destinations.

Prolific to me @Marichams

Well, I know you are joking, I believe that no one in the community have your average of post per week. Post, with a content, not just dropping a photo an putting a title. Post with a beautiful story.

I am quite active, of course, but I spend most of the time in Connect responding to others, more than writing post. I need a week or more to prepare a post, find the right photos, verify the information, and so on.

Yes Maricha, I have found your great post about the jump: La historia detrás de la foto. A post that, unfortunately, didn’t get any reply (Sorry about that). I will respond asap, and I believe that everyone of us can tell you a story behind a photo.

See you soon

I am so not joking @ErmesT ! Why would I?! I am being truly honest! First, you have more than 250 posts which is quite a number in this platform… and second, you have a talent to solve problems! I am more of a storyteller than a problem solver and they are both needed skills.

Shoots! I have forgotten I published that, let me change the main photo of this piece, not to have it twice and link that post. See, you just solved a problem I didn’t even know I had!!! You are THAT awesome!!!

→ I got soooo excited about that “see you soon”! I started to smile like a fool!

Don’t change your photo @Marichams

We only have 1000 photos available in Connect, and the photo is perfect for this post.

We re-use the same photos many times, when we can, just for this reason.

Otherwise I will have to teach you how to embed your photos

What do you mean that we only have 1,000 photos? And just about that, I noticed I cannot delete them, I accidentally uploaded the wrong file and then I was not able to take it down, I flagged it, in the hope that it would do something, but it did not…

Didn’t I told you already, in some of your first post? If not, I do apologies @Marichams

Ok, don’t worry, I have been one of the first to hit the limit (together with @FaridTDF )

When it happen, you only have two options:

  • Become a moderator (but I wasn’t a moderator at that time)
  • Discover how to manage it

So I had to opt for the second option, and when I was able to fix it, I wrote a post to teach how to fix it (the graphic is quite old, as it is referring to the old Community, but the principle is the same. A few days later, Traci wrote another post, to teach us how to embed a photo

Actually the two old post are linked as a detailed reference inside here: Uploading a photo on Connect? Read these guidelines first

If you still have some doubt, just let me know. Happy to help

If you mentioned it, I have completely forgotten about it @ErmesT ! That’s a bummer! Because one of the things I loved the most about Connect is that I could take some of the material I share in my regular social media outlets and go into details, sometimes by altering the text, sometimes by including imagery, or by researching the details so I could add them… It was a beautiful exercise for me to do that and now you tell me this and I feel like I need to worry about the amount of photos :disappointed:

Posts like this, for example, would be much more boring without the images. Digging in my old posts, in my hard drives and in my head is already a process, and adding another step is undoubtedly a barrier.

I wonder if I should limit the photos per post, if I should stop and add the step hence post less because it will be trickier or if I should just get a YOLO attitude and give my best now, while I feel like it, and worry about the future when it comes. What would you do, in my position @ErmesT ?! And what would have the younger you, as LGConnect user. have done if knowing what you know now?

I would have learn quickly how to embed a photo @Marichams

This photo is on my Google Photo storage, not Uploaded in Connect. If you check my profile you will not find it

And that, my dear @ErmesT , is why one needs to talk to those who know and take their advice!

thank you Ermest … Yes i am in Cape Town , i have not been on here in awhile , i have been focusing on some interesting projects .

Hi @Marichams ,

South Africa seems like a really cool place to visit. I didn’t know anything about this monument, so thank you for sharing it here and telling us the story. I really like the photo frame, I’ve seen similar ones in different countries.

Thanks for sharing your photos, they are beautiful.
