Hi everyone. I am very sad this morning. I worked really hard to get to level 7 reviewing soooo many restaurants, memories, photos, videos and so much love. I achieved level 7 after reviewing 170+ places and more than 4-5 states, 4 counties… many cities and restaurants.
Today, I am level 6 and only 60 reviews. I’ve lost it all. I’ve tried to find a way to get in contact with the Google Maps team and apparently there is nothing. Please help me. This do means a lot to me.
I really enjoy reviewing places but this is a huge loss for me.
Hi Carlos @csr_2025 , and welcome to Connect.
This is an issue report by several Local Guides, the team is aware of that, and hopefully already at work to fix it.
Do you have a screenshot where to see the count for the reviews?
I am asking because, for what I can see in your profile, actually the reviews are 87.
Is this a recent screenshot, @csr_2025 ?
Can you kindly share the link to the business?
Today your profile shows 90 reviews.
Did you write 3 new reviews?
I took that screenshot yesterday at 2:45 PM. I am attaching a new screenshot today of the review and the count (see attachment). I am adding the link of the restaurant too.
Perfect, @csr_2025 , thanks you for sharing the link. I can see the review and that you have 170 public reviews.
So you are in the same situation of many other local guides: the reviews are visible on the location but not in the profile, and this is the reason of the drops of the points. The team is aware of the issue and at work to fix it.
You will have only to wait, like most of us
No, @csr_2025 , I am a Local Guide that is volunteering helping the team to moderate Connect since 2017. We have escalated the issue through the Googlers in Connect, and they reached Google Maps.
We know they are working on it, and we know that there is an issue with the counter, that is impacting both businesses and Local Guides. As the points are based on that counter an error in there is also causing a reduction in the points
Hi! I am facing the same issue (contributions and points decreasing) and some reviews not visible when logged in, but visible in incognito or from other people’s phones.
Is there a larger thread where everyone is posting about this issue?
I could only find this one and another.
Thank you!
Great. Thank you. It has been really frustrating for the past week because customer support was giving boiler plate answers and only managed to find this thread a couple of hours ago. I was almost giving up hope
@csr_2025 I opened support tickets. With the second one I was “luckier” because they told me to write here (on the local guides community). Otherwise, the answers they gave me were…pretty much a joke.
I assume you are referring to Google one support @RazvanB
There is no support that can properly analyze the potential problem of over 150 million Local Guides, especially considering that that support is not specifically oriented on Maps, but general for the over a billion and a half Google accounts existing in the world. It is obvious that they send you to a specific support community, @csr_2025
@ErmesT indeed. I clicked the Contact Us button in Google Maps and a ticket was opened. I guess first line support should have taken it further to second line… Nothing happened though.
@RazvanB
I imagine support as a hospital reception: Toothache? Dentistry, Elevator 5, third floor. Vision problems: Corridor B, Elevator 12, first floor.
And in fact it is right that it is so. The person who answers you is not a specialist in everything, his specialty is sending you to the right doctor
Good metaphor. Unfortunately, I was left to “die” at the reception during ~14 interactions. In the end somebody sent me to a different hospital. I still believe this is a very weak CeX.
I noticed yesterday some of my contributions and points have returned. Not all of them. Still I am unable to see my own reviews from the past month or so…
Congratulations on your efforts @csr_2025. Looks like you’re at Level 7 again now.
If the points and levels mean a lot to you, there are other things you can do on the Google Maps platform apart from Reviews. Some of us enjoy adding photos, videos, and captions. Adding new places and missing roads are also effective ways to earn points and progress towards the next level.
