Why Captions are not appearing on my Google Profile?

I have recently started adding captions for the photos and videos I upload on Google but number of captions does not update on my Google Profile.

How can I fix that?

From your public profile I can see that you have added 59 photo captions. Of these only three have a text attached to them. And these were added more than 2 years ago.

Keep in mind that the caption features are still under development.

I think that if you don’t add some text in the text box named “Say something about this picture” then you cannot expect them to be counted as captions.

Also I think you may reconsider what you consider to be an update. Just uploading your photos as updates and not as usual pictures is probably not what we are expected to do. Keep in mind that all photos should be helpful to map users and clearly show the place and not be selfies.

The most likely reason for this is that you are not adding captions the proper way. I faced this challenge too at some point.

Follow either of the two steps.

  • On the “explore” tab of the google map
  • Scroll up and tap “add a post” ‌ :selfie: ‌
  • Add your selected photo(s) / video(s)
  • Select the POI and add a caption.
  • Post and get 10 points for caption Plus the points for photo/video

Alternatively,

  • search for the POI
  • tap on “updates”
  • tap “By visitors”
  • tap “Add a photo update”
  • select photo(s) /Video(s) and add caption
  • Post and get 10 points for caption Plus the points for photo/video

Thank you, thank you, & THANK YOU! I’ve been trying to figure out this category for longer than I care to admit. I read your instructions, gave it a try & it worked.
