Continuing our Women & Allied Series, today we’re excited to introduce Indah, a passionate Level 10 Local Guide from Indonesia.
Indah has been making an impact by contributing to Google Maps, sharing her experiences, and supporting her community in meaningful ways. Let’s get to know her! Here is a candid Rendezvous with @indahnuria !
Can you tell us a little about yourself and your journey as a Local Guide?
[Indah]: I’m a mom of two and by profession, a diplomat (for the last 23 years since I joined the Foreign Service). I have been passionate about traveling and exploring the world, excited to know more about somewhere and something new. This is where Google Maps become so important as well as beneficial as the essential references for my adventures and my daily life! So on day - to - day basis, I have helps from Google Maps and at the same time, I try to contribute more and more so that we will have many more people enjoying the same knowledge, information, as well as excitement to explore new things. As I embark on a particular journey, I do use Maps a lot. Many times I have to come to a new country or area which are foreign for me. Then, with Maps, I can get better understanding of many things,- where to go, what to do, how long I’m expected to be on the road, whether I can visit those places with my friends who are disabled, and etc. On a more serious note, I also use Maps to help me during my series of treatment for breast cancer. Finding doctors, clinics, hospitals, cancer center, pharmacies, supporting communities and more become easier with the help of Google Maps and any dedicated Local Guides who have been sharing their personal experience through reviews, photos, and videos.
What inspires you to be a Local Guide?
[Indah]: As I mentioned above, Maps have helped me in finding the right place I need to be and provide essential information that help me taking decisions in life. They vary from simply choosing a restaurant for my family’s dinner, to deciding road trips to take as well as hospital to go for my treatment. In the end, I do believe that I can be part of the solutions too. I try to contribute more and more as Local Guides so that we will have many more people enjoying the same knowledge, information, as well as excitement to explore new things. I also believe we can save a lot of time, energy, expenses and also lives, by using Maps and by using responsible and accurate information shared by Local Guides. And moreover, I want to contribute something beneficial and meaningful to communities and the people, being part of the solution towards some issues we face on daily basis and in larger scales. And don’t forget, being a Local Guide has open more networking and opportunities for me as well! I love this new big family of Google Local Guides who have been very supportive, fun, and heartwarming as well. I have been using reviews, photos, videos and accessibility features so far. I also find information regarding whether some particular places are good for business meetings (this is the beta testing in Indonesia), parking space, and EV charger very helpful. I also love the fact that Google has given a recognition for women’s owned business, which hopefully can spark more enthusiasm from more women entrepreneurs and leaders.
What’s your favorite feature of Google Maps?
[Indah]: The review, accessibility features and women-owned business .. these are very inspiring!
What message would you give to other Women Local Guides or anyone considering joining our Local Guides program ?

We have so much potentials and there are so many ways to ensure that Joining Local Guides program is certainly one fun way to do it! so hope to see you around in Google Maps, Connect and of course real world!
