World Cerebral Palsy Day

Hy Local Guides,

Today is celebrated as World Cerebral Palsy Day ( October 6th ). This day is celebrated to raise awareness and promotes safety and rights for people with Cerebral Palsy. Cerebral palsy is a neurological condition/disorder where it affects movement, mobility and communication. There are 17 million people across the world living with Cerebral Palsy.

This day was started in 2012 which aims to bring together people with Cerebral palsy, their families, supporters and organizations across 100 countries.

Aims:

  • To promote awareness of this day,
  • To break the stigma regarding Cerebral palsy.
  • To promote and support equal rights and opportunities.
  • Promote Accessibility across various fields such as outdoors and indoors.
  • Start research for better treatments and care.

How businesses/shop can help people with Cerebral Palsy:

  • Give available accomodation for them.
  • Installing walkable ramps/wheelchair ramps.
  • Accessible friendly toilets.
  • Having chairs and tables which are suitable for them.

How to observe:

  • Give reviews of places you visit today mentioning any Accessibility features they provide.
  • Wear a green coloured dress to show support.

Like Accessibility week/day, this day is also important as all Accessibility features can be listed on this day.

Comment down your favourite place which gives more accessibility features with a map link.

Thanks, my dear @Rahul001 for highlighting the “World Cerebral Palsy Day”; honestly, I was not aware of this day, though the disease is known to me.

Wheelchair accessibility has gone a long way in the past 5 years in India… There are many destinations with full wheelchair accessibility…

Thanks for tagging me…

I really appreciate your efforts in creating awareness @Rahul001 . With regards to Accessibility our country is moving forward. Still a long way to get 80% Accessibility. Wherever I go I asked for improvement for accessibility. Hopefully they understand. Let us do our best.
