World environment day 2023 - Eco-Tourism Park in Poor Man’s Ooty, Yercaud - TravellerG

Nurture our Nature - Go Green and Save Green.

Hi friends,
Environmental Day (June 5th) emphasizes the role of communication and awareness in bringing positive change in the public’s minds.

Dr Smita Patil, in her ‘Environmental Day 2023 Challenge’ post (Here), asked:
‘Have you witnessed any of the Environmentally friendly places?’

Yes, I recently visited an Eco-Tourism Park in Yercaud, Tamil Nadu, India.

Yercaud, also known as the ‘Poor Man’s Ooty’, is a hill station in the Salem District - in the Servarayan range of hills of Eastern Ghats! Here, one can see & feel nature in its nascent form.

Photo #2, Caption: A view of the Yercaud Lake.

Among many beautiful locations, there are a few Eco-Tourism destinations here - one of them is the ‘Eco-Tourism Park’ on Lady’s Seat Road (Here). This is an island connected to the land through a bridge. The ‘Yercaud Lake’ water surrounds this lush green park.

This park offers long trails of walking tracks and resting places. Earlier, there were deer, peacocks, rabbits, etc. Here & Here.

The environment is very peaceful and oxygen-rich because of the greenery. One can relax for hours together here and enjoy the cool breeze. This island is fully plastic-free and is maintained well. The children have yo-yo, slide and many other facilities to enjoy.

They have presented statues of different animals and due to the tall trees, the surroundings look more natural. This park has a very decently maintained washroom, separately for ladies & gents.

Unfortunately due to the steps which lead the bridge to join the park, this place is not accessibility friendly.

:wheelchair: Wheelchair NOT accessible = :x:

How to reach:
Salem is the nearest railway station, airport & highway; then from there, the Ghats road has to be covered by road only. This park is very close to the entry to Yercaud.

Tagging @Smita_Patil who has gifted this challenge; I hope I have met your expectation

#WorldEnviroenmentDay2023 #SpeakForNature in your post.

Also, tagging my dear friends, @Muhammad_Usman , @SanjayBDLG , @PaDeSSo @SholaIB @SachinVijayan @Gurukrishnapriya @renata1 @PattyBlack @Rohan10 for their feedback & suggestions.

Beautiful post @TravellerG

I like all the photos, and Yercaud is a good location for stress breaking…

As you said, the Environmental day should bring an awareness on climate change and global warming to all public…

I will tell one incident…

few months ago, I was proud to say that I am using induction cooking at home, and achieve zero emission in cooking…

While Browsing , Google also says "Induction cooking is better for the climate and eliminates harmful pollutants from your home"

Yes it was correct… I was using only 1.5-2 units per day of electricity(green energy) for cooking with zero emission.

But if you think one step back, How electricity is produced and received in home? This require lot of energy, material, fuels to produce electricity and transmission…

A study says that consumption of 1 unit of electricity is equivalent to 1kg of CO2 emission (A green house gas which is the hero of global warming)

Now see the previous statement- Induction cooking avoids emission of pollutants from home, but it is emitted in some other location.

The only thing is that what is the main source of production of electricity. If it is from renewable resource/Green energy like solar or wind then it is better…

Think !!!

Go Green !! :evergreen_tree: Save Earth :earth_africa:

Wow… Thank you so much for your detailed & informative response - I’m highly obliged to you.

Yes, we too use Induction cooker though, as you told, any fuel except renewable energy like solar is dangerous to our planet.

Once again, I thank you very much, my dear friend @SachinVijayan

Wow, great!

Extremely happy to see your response, my dear friend @ErmesT - thank you so much for your valuable companionship.

To be frank with you, “Flat Stanley” Charector & the project are new to this part of the world - after seeing your response, I learnt it from the Google Search - thanks. I saw it as the Children’s educational Project.

Can you please explain the context of the ‘Flat Stanley’ in Environmental Day, please…

Best wishes on Environmental Day…
