Alwy left her native India to attend medical school in the Philippines. Many people would have been daunted by having to assimilate to a new place while pursuing such a rigorous educational track. But Alwy dove right in and discovered a love for sharing information on Google Maps along the way.

As a way of familiarizing herself with her new surroundings, she began a self-described "food journey" where she sampled cuisines from all across the city of Las Piñas. When she couldn't find reviews or photos online, she started posting to Google Maps "so people will start to go there and, like me, they can also explore different tastes." She also assisted local businesses by encouraging them to use features like Google My Business to improve productivity.

In 2021, she continued to develop a deep affinity for the vibrant culture of the Philippines. "Their culture is so accepting toward other parts of the world," she explained. "There is a fusion of cultures. So many influences are here." This year, she made treks to natural wonders like the Taal Volcano on Luzon Island. Through her recent posts on Google Maps and Connect, she has built bridges between local and global cultures. "It's like a 'world platform,' she says. "I can speak up and people from all over the world are listening."
