Kasun loves to dive deep into his role as a Local Guide in Sri Lanka. He's hosted meet-ups everywhere from an underwater museum to underground caves. He also connects with fellow Local Guides above ground, for mapping meet-ups, food crawls, and more.

Kasun makes a difference by sharing knowledge about things he's passionate about, like how people can protect the ocean, participate in coral restoration projects, clean beaches, and more. In 2021 specifically, he created a variety of educational content for fellow Local Guides on Connect, from photography tips to mapping best practices.

"I am an outdoor person who loves to travel and explore the world. I am eager to know about the latest advancements in technology," he said. "Also, I am also a person who likes to help others in any way I can. I think being a Local Guide I can do all those three things together. Whenever I travel, I try to combine those journeys with my Local Guide activities. For instance, my passion for the ocean inspired underwater meet-ups which led to ocean-related contributions on Google Maps and within the Local Guides community."
