Shafiul B.

Level 9 • Dhaka, Bangladesh

Shafiul has always seen the Local Guides community as an opportunity to introduce one's country, culture, and its local beauty. Shafiul has been an energetic voice bringing unity and joy to Local Guides events in Dhaka that celebrate service to the Bangla community. Shafiul continues to make Google Maps more accessible by crafting 19 lists (and counting) that better outline routes for families and people with disabilities.

What is your favorite place, experience, photo or video you contributed to Google Maps this year?
One of my favorite places is Sursaptak Underpass (which I found this year). It's not just an underpass, it's an accessible, structural development of Bangladesh. This area was developed for multi-purpose use for all kinds of transit.

What advice do you have for other Local Guides?
We can create a responsible world with our contributions on Google Maps and support others who are seeking geographical solutions to their problems. It's our social, national and global responsibility to contribute. Participate in quality guidance and we will create a better world for all!

What do you like most about the Local Guides community?
The community of kind hearted Local Guides is a home for solutions and inspiration. The community cares about supporting small businesses, mapping accessibility, and guiding others using their real experiences. The thing I like most is the unity among the Local Guides with the purpose of making Google Maps accessible for all.

What makes a place or experience worth rating/reviewing?
There are many factors that make a place unique. We can highlight some of our experiences and activities through reviews. Some things that might inspire you to write: delicious dishes, the environment of a restaurant, kids play zones, and accessibility.

What is your favorite feature of Google Maps?
Adding photos!
