Whether it's a weekend trip to a nearby town, or an escape back to nature, you can find Anna in search of new sights. Mapping roads has become second nature as Anna adds paths and biking trails knowing it will make other people's lives easier.

Anna encourages other Local Guides to remember to have fun while exploring, gathering experiences, and making memories. And take photos while you do it!

What is your favorite place, experience, photo or video you contributed to Google Maps this year?
Depending on whether I'm in a mood for a city break or want to spend time in the wilderness, my favorite places are:

  1. Pszczyna — it has a beautiful landscape and castle, surrounded by lakes and a park full of small islands connected by many romantic bridges leading to a Teahouse.
  2. Gródek, an old quarry that has been transformed into a beautiful park with a wooden path floating on the water. It is quite a hike to get there, but it's so worth it.

My two new discoveries from this year are both located in the south of Poland — an old quarry converted into a beaver camp and a wooden 'pier' built in the middle of a forest on a mountainside that offers an amazing view of the neighborhood.

What advice do you have for other Local Guides?
Whatever your reason to be a Local Guide — whether it's to help other people or provide useful information — remember to have fun. Once in a while, visit a place you've never been to before. It doesn't matter if it's 2 or 200 miles from your home. Explore, gather experiences, and make memories. And take photos while you do it!

What do you like most about the Local Guides community?
It's a great community of like-minded people: problem solvers that can find an answer to everything. Whenever I have a problem with Google Maps or my contributions, I am confident that I will find an answer within the community. I haven't had a chance to meet any Local Guides yet, so that's my new goal!

What makes a place or experience worth rating/reviewing?
I personally review places when I think the information I provide would be useful to others. Leaving a review just for the sake of adding it doesn't bring value. Sometimes I need to visit the place a few times to make sure that the great or bad experience I had wasn't a one-off.

What is your favorite feature of Google Maps?
My personal favorite is road mapping. I use the Google Maps built-in feature (Edit Map) to add paths, pavements, and biking trails, and the Road Mapper. It gives me a great pleasure to draw the roads and paths on the map, especially the ones I use personally or most often, knowing that it will make other people's lives easier. I like to observe how other people use Maps, whether it's my colleagues at work or people I randomly meet on a bus or a trail. They always look for the shortest way, or the most scenic route. If someone saves even 10 minutes a day thanks to the walking path I added, it's a great feeling.
