Shaheen has been a helpful resource towards their community. During the 2022 floods in Pakistan, Shaheen organized the collection and distribution of food to people in affected areas.

While traveling, Shaheen also realized the sea and beaches in Karachi needed the help of a community working together and brought other Local Guides together to clean up the polluted beaches and waters.

On Google Maps, Shaheen continues to show her passion for accessibility and supporting the LGBTQ+ community.

What is your favorite place, experience, photo or video you contributed to Google Maps this year?
My favorite place this year was the Maldives. What surprised me when I visited was that the sea was so beautiful and so clean. The beauty of this country helped me realize the sea and beaches in Karachi are very polluted. Because of this, we started a small clean-up campaign in Karachi in August 2022. My friend from the Local Guides community and Connect Moderator Kashif Misidia also joined and boosted my morale further.

What advice do you have for other Local Guides?
Have faith in additions, one by one. So many people are benefiting from each photo or review.

What do you like most about the Local Guides community?
The most beautiful thing about our community is that we are like a family. We support each other and encourage one another. We are connected even in different corners of the world. As a contributor to Google Maps, I consider myself very fortunate that I can help my country with this amazing platform.

What makes a place or experience worth rating/reviewing?
In my view, what makes a place worthy of a review or rating is its natural beauty and attraction. As a Local Guide, I feel it is my responsibility to write the truth and give others an objective lens.

What is your favorite feature of Google Maps?
My favorite feature in Google Maps is "Suggest an Edit". I have noted many locations that have been misplaced. As a contributor, we have a responsibility to pin the right location or edit any business that is in the wrong location. Recently I edited a place and I received a notification about how many people had benefited from my edit. It made me so proud that I helped this many people indirectly.
