Luis loves to connect with others and is passionate about building a stronger community, both in his area in Mexico and with his fellow Local Guides around the world.

"I think everything is better if you work as a team, and it gets better if tacos are involved," he told us. "I was in a virtual meet-up with other Mexicans and we started to write #TeamTacos on the chat. This evolved into chatting more and organizing a meet-up. We were inspired by the Argentina Local Guides community—they are amazing—and I wish one day we might be as united as they are."

The first #TeamTacos meet-up was about magical towns in Mexico. Luis and his teammates are passionate about making contributions on Google Maps related to museums and other places that showcase the history of Mexico. "These are places that have preserved their history, culture, food and art over the years and are places worth visiting in Mexico," he explained. "We planned this meet-up and were surprised by the great response."

In 2020, #TeamTacos grew even closer through this experience. This shared love and celebration of local cuisine brought more awareness about Mexican culture to Local Guides around the world. "Bringing the Mexican community together has been important to me because this way we encourage more people to make contributions to Maps, and if we can make some friends while doing that, it means we are in the right place."
