Hiroyuki contributes to give back to those he is able to learn from in the community. "Someone will make use of my experience, and I will make use of someone's experience. This is a very simple way to support each other but absolutely awesome and makes a difference in our lives," he said. "The Local Guides program is making this happen in reality, that's why I'm a Local Guide."

This year, Hiroyuki has been leading the #MonthlyTopic challenge on Connect, both to encourage quality posts and to share engaging topics worth discussing with fellow Local Guides while most people are staying home and inside. Hiroyuki gained perspective in 2020 and focused on keeping others connected during this time. "This situation itself is not good, but it has changed my perspective for the better," he said. "We can enjoy being Local Guides even if we are at home because we have a lot of photos and reviews on Google Maps. Sometimes, it is good to remember the past via the Map. Reflecting on good memories from our own timeline is also nice. We can update the past reviews using the newest knowledge and tips as well."

An expert on many things including ramen and coffee, Hiroyuki is known in the community for his great recommendations in addition to his helpful contributions. He's created lists on everything from the best drip coffee shops map in Morioka to charging stations for electric vehicles.
