An avid traveler and adrenaline lover, Lydia discovered Google Maps while planning past adventures. "I discovered the world of knowledge that is on Google Maps with its many reviews. Rather than visiting a city as a newbie, I could unearth local favorites and hidden gems," she said.

This experience taught her how to write helpful reviews for others. "I realized the value of detailed reviews (e.g. is there a baby changing-table in the bathroom, is there wheelchair accessible parking, does the restaurant have vegan and gluten-free options?) and began making my reviews more thorough, including adding photographs."

Originally from London, she's now living in the mountains of Utah and was exploring the U.S. earlier this year. With the changing restrictions that came with 2020, she was unable to travel as much as she had planned. "Myself, and many others, have found themselves somewhat homebound, prioritizing the health and safety of our families and our community," she told us. "For me, this has resulted in a shift of use in Google Maps. I used to read or publish reviews on things like restaurants, shops and social attractions. This year it has been discovering or sharing things that can be enjoyed outside, e.g. nature/hiking trails (especially ones that are kid-friendly)." She stays focused on helping others by adding the kind of information they're looking for now in addition to fulfilling her love of exploring.
