Carolina found a way to embrace her pastimes while helping others as a member of the Local Guides community. "I am a Local Guide because in this amazing program I found the ideal place to channel my greatest passions: traveling, photography, and serving others," she said.

Her post on being a Local Guide in times of crisis was one of the most popular posts on Connect this year. It inspired others in the community to share their thoughts on how they can help at times like this. "I feel that the pandemic is only a pause and that we Local Guides will return to travel the world with more strength and joy than ever before," she said. "When the sea is rough, the sailors stay in port to repair the sails."

She's also been active with an initiative called The Pink Lists. "As a breast cancer survivor and member of a foundation that promotes early prevention of this disease, I came up with the idea of creating Google Maps lists to guide patients who were recently diagnosed and don't know where to go," she said. "With the help of my partners, we have created Pink Lists in several cities in our province and dream of extending them to the entire country."

The lists gather all the relevant information for breast cancer patients, from where you can get mammograms for free to places that provide wigs and cold helmets for use during chemotherapy. Through this, Carolina has given information to those who need it and has used Google Maps in a unique and helpful way.
