Discussion on Local Guides' 2024 Star Photos

@AdamGT I’ve just updated my star photo link in the T100 and it worked perfectly :slightly_smiling_face:

@MortenCopenhagen , the required links are not by a longshot pedantic formalistic requirements and this is not rocket science!!!

As is the case for each and every participating Local Guide, your correct link is needed for the proper integration of the Leaderboards posted each month and in many different posts on Connect with your star photo image and description located in a totally different post, namely the star photo album post. Having the correct link allows anyone reading the Leaderboards throughout 2024 to see your great star photo with just a single mouse-click. There was an initial problem because of the rollover into the 2024 but this was fixed and independently confirmed by both @JustJake and @PrasadVR before you reported that you were having this problem but I’m pleased to hear that you now have also confirmed this.

@JustJake , @PrasadVR , @EfiKurniyawati @TerryPG and @IzzyOz , thank you all for confirming that the T100 System’s star photo linking feature is working correctly. As explained in my reply to @MortenCopenhagen , the link is important to get the best out of the Star Photo Leaderboards so thank you all for your patience and understanding while I sorted this issue out.

Hello friend, @Rednewt74

I like the photo you shared in the 2024 Album of Star Photos. Should the description heading “El Farol Mexican Mexican Restaurant Seattle, WA USA” to be linked to your star photo on Maps as per point 10 in Section 3 of the formatting criteria ?

Hello friend, @jayasimha78 ji, I appreciate your shared photo in the 2024 Album of Star Photos. Would it be appropriate to link the description heading “Clock Tower, University of California Riverside” to your star photo on Maps as per point 10 in Section 3 of the formatting criteria ?

@AdamGT ,

When I clicked your 2024 star photo link on my Chromebook, I got a black maps screen and message that said “no user photo available here”

@EfiKurniyawati,

When I clicked your 2024 star photo link, it took me to the POI but not to your specific photo. I believe this type of link can only be created on a desktop, laptop or Chromebook. You may find this tutorial helpful.

@Theatreperson ,

When I looked at your 2024 star photo I noticed that your title is not a link to your photo on the POI. Adamgt has asked us to provide a link so that interested guides can see the original photo. I believe this type of link can only be created on a desktop, laptop or Chromebook. You may find this tutorial helpful.

@PrasadVR ,

Thank you for the reminder. I have added the link. I’ve noticed some links that went to the POI and not to their photo. I have let the guides know and recommended they look at this tutorial by @TravellerG from back when we had the food/video challenge. Although it was written for videos it is the same procedure as for a photo.

Thanks @Rednewt74 for checking and I’m so pleased to see that someone does. I have seen such messages before and think I may even have escalated it for the Maps team to investigate. I know that there are some issues when viewing shared Maps links on some devices but have no answer as to why it happens. I’ve just changed it to a different link so let me know how it goes.

@AdamGT ,

Yes, your new link is working. I make it a point to look at everyone’s star video; to see what I can learn and to post a note (in the discussion thread) as to what I like about it.

That’s great to hear @Rednewt74 . I only wish I had time to do the same.

@AdamGT Even after reading your Jan. 30th note regarding mistakenly posting something to the Star Albums, I still managed to post my video to the wrong album. Hopefully, I’ll be more careful next time.
