Ongoing issue! Reviews keep having the status “posting” or revert back to “posting”

Congratulations on the new local guides connect!
I’m still trying to find my way, so apologies if I use a wrong category or topic. However, I still have issues with my reviews. Despite my best efforts, I haven’t been able to solve it at all. Sometimes the review hangs on text only, sometimes it goes through and everything seems okay. However, the minute I try to upload photos, mainly of food and entrances, never with recognisable people, the ones approved review reverts to “pending”. I really have no idea what I’m doing wrong.
My reviews and photos are in accordance with the guidelines and do not contain copyrighted information.
I would really appreciate it, if we could finally solve this issue because it is extremely frustrating. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Edit: The review seems fine now, but I can guarantee that the minute I upload the photos you see below, the review revert back to “pending”. For the first screenshot, I’ve tried everything but it is absolutely impossible to upload photos of the beautiful dishes we had.
Edit2: both three views revert back to “posting” a.k.a.’ pending’ after a few hours.

Hi @BarkingMice

You used the perfect category and tag. Thanks.

This is an issue that I have not yet fully understood.

Kindly, let me know if you are uploading the images attached to your review or directly to the place.

Have you tried to add a photo causing your review to be “posting” directly to the place instead? If so, please let me know what happens.

Maybe this this issue is related to a delay in checking your photos. But again, thus is not something I have experienced myself.

Hello @BarkingMice
Not really a general solution, but months ago, I gave up to attach photos to any review, instead I post them directly to the place pin. That way, I know whether the text or a photo is rejected and if the latter, which one it is.
Before that, I also saw situations, where the upload of a review with photos attached was hanging “forever” and also saw some comments here, describing similarly.

Hi @MortenCopenhagen , thanks for taking the time to reply!
I I have checked, and it appears that the issue is not only limited to reviews with photos but, in these two cases, also affects reviews without photos, which surprises me. I will attach a screenshot for clarity. Normally, I upload photos directly with the review itself, as I assume others prefer seeing photos with reviews, just as I do. I haven’t tried uploading the photos separately to the place itself

Thanks so much @WilfriedB for your suggestion. I have to say that I’ve been dealing with this issue since last year, and although I’m not someone who gives up easily, it’s been incredibly frustrating, and I understand the feeling of wanting to give up. Posting photos directly to the place itself is a great idea, and I’ll definitely give that a try!

A few other LGs have reported that reviews without photos can get stuck in posting mode.

Please perform the test I suggested so we can get a better understanding of this issue.

I will, and I’ll let you know. Thanks again @MortenCopenhagen

I don’t do many Reviews, but I have tried with and without Photos, as I’ve seen the complaints of others on here. It doesn’t seem to be a problem for me, so I can’t add any insight on a possible solution.

Llevo subiendo reseñas y fotos bastante tiempo.

Please include screenshot of the issue of possible. I will be tagging @MortenCopenhagen , he can better help in your issue!

Thanks for the tag, @Rahul001

We are currently discussing the same issue in another thread. So I will merge this topic into the other thread.

I’m unsure if this is a new bug. I find it hard to believe this could be intended.

My photo shows “your upload is pending” but the number of views on this photo is still increasing. The attached image shows a photo with 161 views.

Hi @son2024,

This means this photo was publicly posted earlier and hence there is some views on this. Moderation is a continuous process and hence at later stage it might have got hidden due to some policies restrictions.

You may refer Identify hidden photos for more clarity.

Ok, thanks for your reply and good ti know that i am not the only one.

@Kumaarsantosh, @MortenCopenhagen
Thank you for your explanation. From what I understand, my review and photos have been hidden due to moderation. I’m curious why they are not visible to others, as I’ve checked with a different account and confirmed that they don’t appear under the recent reviews and photos for this establishment. However, the view count continues to rise, going from 161 views yesterday to 226 today.
Best regards, Son

I wish I knew. Having contributions visible only to the contributor is normal for moderated content. The Pending upload is what I don’t yet understand. Views are likely from before it got taken down. It could also be that some Maps servers have the image while others don’t.

I have uploaded only the photos, as suggested, to the appropriate restaurants or hotels but they have either gone under in all the other photos (which I doubt) but I cannot find them. Since I’m not alone in experiencing this issue, this signifies that the problem isn’t solved by a long shot. Since the issue has been since mid last year, I’m -understandably- kind of fed up with it. So for the time being I’ll follow this post for a solution but I’ll stop posting on Maps.
