Top 100 Local Guides Leaderboards System New feature: Star Views History Table (Version #1)

I’ve always wanted to add Star Photo View History Table right below the Star Photo in ‘Local Guides’ 2024 Album of Star Photos’, but it was too time-consuming.Thanks to @AdamGT awesome new feature, announced on 20.7.2024 Top 100 meet-up VIRTUAL MEET-UP - Top 100 Local Guides Leaderboards, what’s next! ,we can now do it in one click! I have already done, it was super easy. Now my Star Photo looks more meaningful and interesting. I like this new Leaderboard System feature. The new feature show that the Leaderboards are more than being just about rankings of Local Guides. I would like to share how to implement this feature here.

First Log in to Top 100 System.

After you have finished adding or editing your star screenshot, caption, heading and description but before you Post, you can make your entry a little more detailed and interesting by following the procedure below to add a table showing your star’s views and delta views history. You must follow the steps very, very carefully!

  1. Select the Copy Star Views History Table button below and click OK on the popup window.

  2. Scroll down to the very end of your screenshot post, making sure that your cursor is at the very end or on the line immediately below your description.

  3. Next, on Connect’s Message Body menu you should see the HTML button. If you don’t then try making the browser window wider until you see this button.

  4. Select the HTML button and a Source code popup window should be dislayed. If not then stop and check that you have followed the previous steps correctly.

  5. Now simply Ctrl+V or right-click and paste into the Source code window and press the OK button.

  6. You should now see your correctly formatted Star Views History Table. Use the vertical scroll bar on the right of the window and check that your table looks correctly formatted and then select the Post button!

  7. Once you’ve posted your star, check it again making sure that the data is correct and that your new star post is correctly formatted so that Lucy will be happy!

You can see my Star Photo with view history table here. At present, this can be done on desktop easily. The same thing can be applied for Star Videos as well. Please note, at present, this feature is for Top 100 VIP Level 10.

Edit:

From the reply and further information given here by AdamGT, I need to make the following update to my post:

  1. This is the first release version #1 of the this feature. The major problem identified so far is the inability to do all this on mobile because Connect on mobile does not provide HTML functionality.
  2. While in this first release it was intended that this feature could be used in all 3 media types, namely star photo, star video and star 360 spheres, at the moment it is not working for star 360 spheres.
  3. The procedure is for when you first add the Star Views History table to your post. In subsequent months when updating the star details, you will at the same time need to update the Star Views History table.
  4. Some other useful changes including much better integration with the monthly star media leaderboards, the delta views will be added in version # 2. Thank you @AdamGT for your valuable suggestions.

Cheers!

Edited on 03/08/2024: I kindly suggest to read @AdamGT 's post for more details on user experiences and challenges related to adding a history table to star media posts.

I see that @PrasadVR has been busy helping others as he so often does. Nicely presented and I’m glad that you like this new Leaderboard System feature Prasad, designed to provide even further integration between each Local Guide’s star photo, video and 360 sphere posts and the Leaderboards, improving the quality of the presentation, as well as nicely showing the views history of our most viewed media. Just a couple of points if I may.

Firstly, with this first release of this feature, the delta views are not shown so you need to modify your wording accordingly. However, as well as some other useful changes including much better integration with the monthly star media leaderboards, the delta views will be added in version 2. The idea was to release this first version and see how well Local Guides adapt to it and manage the process, and to iron out any teething problems. As we have seen the major problem identified so far is the inability to do all this on mobile because Connect on mobile does not provide HTML functionality. This limits the ability of mobile users like @Annaelisa from being able to take advantage of this feature. For those like Annaelisa, I have suggested a possible way of doing this (see here) but it is a little cumbersome so I have my thinking cap on and will try to come up with a more elegant and simpler way of handling mobile.

Secondly, the procedure as described of course is for when you first add the Star Views History table to your post. In subsequent months when updating the star details, you will at the same time need to update the Star Views History table. So step #2 will be a little different at this time.

Thirdly, while in this first release it was intended that this feature could be used in all 3 media types, namely star photo, star video and star 360 spheres, at the moment it is not working for star 360 spheres. Once again you might like to add a comment about this on your post.

Notwithstanding the issues in the first release, I’m please that you love this new feature and it is clear from the excitement shown during the recent Leaderboard meet-up that it is also well liked by the Local Guides that attended and many of these have so quickly, already applied it to their star photo and star video posts. Below I have summarized some of these. Selecting the place name will take you to the respective Local Guide’s post on Connect.

It’s features like this that go to show that the Leaderboards are more than being just about rankings of Local Guides. The other thing about features like this is that it improves the quality of presentation and turns a comment into being a mini-post. Just see for example the quality presentation of how @LightRich used this new feature in the star video comment about MAQUÉ café, Cuautemoc, Ciudad de Mexico. Not only does it look “classy”, it also has substance and when it ends up in the public domain on the web, it will be much more interesting for both Internet surfers and search engines  To see more implementations of this new feature, see the star photos album and star video album posts.

Just wondering @PrasadVR and @AdamGT :
How do get I “VIP Level 10”, which seems to be prerequisite to use this function. I am not a Local Guide at level 10 yet, but reading the discussion, I see levels below 10.

Hello @WilfriedB , Please note, this is not about Local Guide Level 10 but VIP Level 10 within the Top 100 System. The VIP level system is explained in Top 100 System > General>Top 100 Local Guides Startup Guide>10 - System User Levels and Features>FAQ>2 - How do you get access to these Advanced Features?
