Vada Pav or Pav Vada - It Tastes Equally Good

Vada Pav is a staple fast food of India.
People on the move munch on it in millions every hour.

This is a 3-layered snack.
The innermost is a ball of spicy potatoes.
It is called the Vada or the Bonda.

The middle one is a thin coating of gram flour over the Vada ball.

The outer portion is a specially made pav bread
The bread is sliced halfway to accommodate the inner Vada ball.

This is consumed with a tinge of tamarind-tomato chutney sauce.

Fried green chilies always go with Vada Pav to add some tears to your eyes.

On my tour to Nashik an innovative cook reversed this to make it a Pav Vada.
He put the bread inside and coated it with the gram floor slurry.
Fried this and served us.

This refreshingly new sequence tantalized my taste buds.

Here’s the storefront of Hotel Shanti where we had a pit stop on way to the Nipha Winery.

And guess who also enjoyed the Pav Vada? local guides @NERKARAMIT , @abhishekpatk , @Shrut19 and birthday boy @Shreeish :birthday:

Vada Pav - that started as the humble Bombay Burger in Mumbai has come full circle by reversing the sequence to be reincarnated as Pav Vada, but tastes equally good :yum:

Hello, my dear @TusharSuradkar ,

Vada Pav & Pav Vada (though I haven’t tasted Pav Vada - ) - both look very interesting…

Yummy… yummy… Tasting photo!

Just looking at the green chilli, my eyes started watering… What is that ‘Red Powder’?

I’m sure you might have enjoyed it a lot…

For your kind information, this dish has even taken place in the Menu Card of some Kerala Hotels - of course, Vada Pav is totally popular in Bangalore - here the side dishes are different…

The taste of Vada Pav is fully visible on the faces of all the LGs… :+1: :+1: :+1: :yum:

Great… Cheers… :handshake:

I’m tagging our @Anil6969 and @Rahul001 … please…

Thank you @TravellerG

Excellent observation :+1:

The orange preparation is dry coconut chutney with finely ground chilly powder added.

It changes from dry to oily due to coconut oil.

I remember this with roti was my lunch in school days for atleast 3 times a week.

We also place a lot of orange coconut chutney in a roti roll to carry it as emergency travel food, since it stays good for 2 days.

Do you have any suggestion for travel food that can be prepared at home?

Thanks for the interesting list of famous places and food @ShailendraOjha

Unfortunately, no one from those places seems to write about them on Connect.

How would the world know about this amazing food in India?

Thanks for the appreciation :handshake:

Sehr schön, ich freue mich darauf.

Wenn nur Connect wieder richtig funktionieren würde, man weiß zur Zeit nicht was wo ist und ob man alles zu sehen bekommt.

Yes, Vada Pav is often consumed on the go while traveling and very few people sit down to eat it.

@Rahul001 Nice to see more such food joints are opening everywhere.
